A-crafting I will go!
As you know - we are still moving into our house. We have all of our stuff here, I've finally decided where everything will go, now we just have to move it to the right room and get everything unpacked!
My daughter asked me to help her with a project for her school, and in an effort to get it done before school starts, I had Jason help me get the sewing / craft / office set up - so I could start sewing asap.
The previous owners used this as a gym, but the light is awesome (2 bright windows) and the room is huge, so we decided to move the gym out to another area, and use this for our hobbies and projects.
Over time, we'll share the bulk of our hobbies with everyone, but suffice it to say, this room will get more use than any other in our house, except maybe where we cook and sleep. Haha.
The desk area - here's where we'll add our desktop computer, hook up the printer and do our "office" work. For us, that will mean the place where we pay bills, track expenses associated with Homesteading and possibly write these posts.
That super cool chair is a "gamers" chair that Jason bought me during the pandemic, when I was working from home. It's pretty awesome. It reclines and has a built in footstool. :) I love it!
The saying on the wall was there and I like it and agree, so it's staying - this is where the previous owners had the treadmill. I've replaced it with my dress form and a basket full of quilting squares (in progress, of course). I'm not sure what they used the white shelf for (you couldn't reach it when the treadmill was there) - but I'm going to leave that basket there, and possibly add a jar of crochet hooks. We'll see how it develops.
Here's the view from my main sewing table. The white machine is my Brother Embroidery machine. I use it most.
The black one to the right, in the table, is my 1940's Necchi. I LOVE it for straight line sewing. It's a beast - with the right needle, I could sew pretty much anything with it.
On the shelves are my 1940's singer (bottom shelf) - which is also a beast but uses a shuttle instead of a bobbin. I am incapable of changing the shuttle in that machine (more on that in a later post).
The next shelf up is an old machine that my son and daughter in law purchased for me. It doesn't work at the moment, but as soon as I find a sewing machine repair place nearby, I'll get it going.
Lastly (for those shelves) is my serger. I love it! I'll be sharing projects using it in the future.
I showed this picture around and was "bragging" that this might be enough sewing machines...Until....
I remembered THIS bad boy was still upstairs! I had "sold" it to a friend, but she never ended up using it (or paying for it) so she gave it back. I'll find a spot for it somewhere! This was originally my "back up" machine for my Brother, but I've only used it once. Anyone need a sewing machine? Haha!
All in all, I'm glad to get the room started - and to start creating in it. There are no overhead lights, so there will be a LOT of bright lamps, but the feel of the room is awesome and I'm excited about it. I'll show you improvements and organization as I go. For now, feel free to admire my shelf of sewing machines. That's what I do! Haha!
Have an amazing day! Talk soon!
