False Spring or my Daffodils are confused.

The air temperature is warm, the birds are chirping and we are all lulled into a false sense of Spring. A "False Spring" is a newer phenomenon that may or may not be the result of global warming. Regardless of your beliefs, my Daffodils are very confused.

My bulbs were planted in January, and they are already starting to grow! It's only mid-February - not even Valentine's Day yet, and my bulbs are springing up through the ground at speed. What does this mean for their future happiness? Well that all depends on what the weather decides to do in the next few months. The last frost date for my area (7b) is not until April. I was expecting some snow this month, and the temps have been near the 70's this past week. All the daffodils in my garden have popped their heads up and some have bloomed. What's a girl to do? Well, this girl is going to cut some flowers from the garden and bring them inside. Might as well enjoy them before they die back. I'm hoping they don't freeze, but if they do, at least I will have been able to enjoy them.

For those who are concerned about the death - due to frostbite - do not fear. There are still plenty of bulbs that haven't pushed through the warmed ground. We'll have a beautiful garden, even if we lose these few plants.

In the meantime, enjoy the flowers while they're here - and if you don't have any popping up, you can enjoy this photo of mine!

Have an amazing week!

Warm Wishes!
