A hot minute…
My goodness! It’s been a hot minute since I’ve posted on our blog. And I have a perfectly good reason…ok…maybe not “good”, but a reason.
In January of this past year, I decided to go back to work full time. In my regular, “I can do it all” mentality, I figured I’d still be able to keep up with the house, the gardening, the preserving, the animals, the blog…. Turns out! Nope! I can’t / don’t want to do it all.
Over the course of the time I’ve been working, both of my kids got pregnant. My son and DIL had their beautiful baby girl, Eleanor in July, and my daughter and SIL are due to have their baby boy, Theodore, in September.
It would be an understatement to say that I am very blessed. I’m also at an age / stage in my life that doing what I want to is most important. I don’t WANT to work outside my home. I want to keep my house and garden and animals and sew and crochet and quilt and this blog. I want to watch my Grandbabies grow and teach them about gardening and creating and sewing and all the things I love.
So. I’ve quit my job. Thursday is my last day. As soon as I leave work, I’m headed to my daughters house so I can go to the doctor with her. Then next week, I’ll start watching Eleanor while her Mom & Dad work. I’ll start getting my house back up to speed, and dig out the 8 foot tall weeds from my garden. I’ll clean my pool and get the library set up. I’ll move my craft room and start preserving and cooking more. I’ll do all the things that are meaningful to me.
Find your joy. Do the things that make you happy. Even if it’s only some of the time. And give yourself grace. You can’t do all the things all the time. Like Momma said, no one can do it all. (Even if you really really want to).
For now, enjoy these lovely photos of the quilt I’m making (still) for Elenaor! I’ll share the final look, when I get it finished - hopefully, before she graduates high school! ;)
Thanks for stopping by! I’ll be sharing our adventures!
Have an amazing day!
