Using What We Have
This is just a quick post! We have been trying to figure out the best way to protect our animal feed, that is convenient, water tight and critter free.
When we moved into the house, the past owners left an outdoor organizing bin. It was full of balls and rackets, and miscellaneous other “toys”. We had never even emptied it to see what all was inside it. It just sat on the edge of the driveway. I stacked bags of dirt on it and occassionally used it as a table to repot plants.
As we were pondering what to do as far as the animal feed is concerned, we thought of that bin. Jason went over, opened it up and started emptying it. While there were lots of things we can use, there are lots of other places we can store those toys!
We don’t have a barn, or any other outdoor structure that would work for storing the feed, so this was a great solution!
Jason cleaned out the bin, and we moved it over by the chicken coop. All the different feeds and minerals went into their own containers, and VOILA! Jason did put a small piece of pallet in the bottom of the bin, to allow for air circulation and to ensure that none of the containers are sitting in water (in case of dew / leaks), and it was all done!
It’s so nice to have all the food readily available, outside of the “sacks” they come in, and no worries about anything getting ruined!
A win for us!
